The Jaipur campus and the departments that matter

MNIT's 2026-27 PG and PhD brochure places the campus on Jawahar Lal Nehru Marg in the south of Jaipur, about 10 km from Jaipur Railway Station and the main bus stand and 5 km from the airport. It is a residential campus of 325 acres, and the postal address is J.L.N. Marg, Jaipur 302017.

Two academic units are relevant to a GATE DA or CSE aspirant:

  • The Department of Computer Science & Engineering, which runs both GATE-route M.Tech programmes and a PhD.
  • The Department of Artificial Intelligence & Data Engineering. The brochure lists a B.Tech in Artificial Intelligence and Data Engineering and a PhD here, but no M.Tech of its own appears in CCMT 2026.

If you are writing GATE nearby, the official GATE 2027 exam city list includes Jaipur under the IIT Delhi zone (the list is tentative). Our Jaipur city page covers the centre in more detail.

M.Tech through CCMT: how the 2026 cycle ran

MNIT's brochure states that admission to M.Tech (Full Time with Assistantship) for 2026-27 was done through CCMT, so MNIT runs no separate application for these seats. The CCMT 2026 brochure required a valid GATE score of 2024, 2025 or 2026 and at least 6.5 CGPA or 60% in the qualifying degree (6.0 CGPA or 55% for SC, ST and PwD). Counselling had three regular rounds, two Special Rounds and a National Spot Round.

The institute's own CCMT 2026 seat matrix shows 26 seats in Group 1 for each programme:

Programme OPEN EWS SC ST OBC PwD seats Total
Computer Science & Engineering 10 2 4 2 7 1 (OBC-PwD) 26
Computer Science & Information Security 10 2 4 2 7 1 (SC-PwD) 26

Each programme has a single seat group, so every eligible degree and paper competes for the same 26 seats on GATE score alone.

GATE DA or GATE CS: what CCMT's seat mapping allows

CCMT's seat mapping of programme against GATE paper and qualifying degree is the document that decides eligibility. For MNIT Jaipur's two CSE-department programmes in 2026 it showed:

  • GATE DA: mapped against "B.E./B.Tech. in Any of the disciplines in B.E./B.Tech. degree" for both Computer Science & Engineering and Computer Science & Information Security.
  • GATE CS: mapped against a long list of named B.E./B.Tech. degrees, including Computer Science and Engineering, Computer Engineering, Information Technology, Electronics and Communication, Electrical and several hybrid computing branches.

For a GATE DA taker this is a wide door: under this mapping, a mechanical or civil graduate with a DA score appears eligible. A GATE CSE taker needs one of the named degrees. Every entry in MNIT's 2026 mapping for these programmes is a B.E./B.Tech. degree, so an MCA or M.Sc. holder should check the mapping again in the 2027 cycle before counting on these seats. Re-check the mapping each year either way, since CCMT republishes it for every cycle.

CCMT 2026 GATE scores at MNIT Jaipur

These figures are copied from CCMT's Maximum and Minimum GATE Score of CCMT Counselling 2026 report. They are GATE scores out of 1000 for allotted candidates, shown for Round 1 and for the National Spot Round, the last round. Group labels are as CCMT printed them.

For Computer Science & Engineering, the National Spot Round shows a row only for EWS. The report does not say which GATE paper each allotted candidate used, so DA and CS scores are mixed in these rows.

Self-financed and sponsored M.Tech seats

MNIT added a Self-Financed category to its M.Tech programmes for 2026-27. The brochure sets ten seats per programme, chosen solely on an institute-level written test with 100% weightage and a minimum of 35% for every category. A valid GATE score is not mandatory, the degree eligibility matches CCMT's, and students in this category receive no assistantship. Seats left vacant after CCMT may be offered to waitlisted self-financed candidates in merit order.

Sponsored candidates take a written test as well. Table 10 of the brochure lists 5 full-time sponsored and 6 part-time sponsored seats in Computer Science and Engineering, and sponsored applicants need at least two years of regular service.

For 2026-27 the PG application ran on the MNIT PG admission portal from 18 April to 7 May 2026, with the PG written test on 25 May 2026 and final PG results expected in the first week of August 2026.

PhD in CSE or AI & Data Engineering, and the M.Tech plus PhD option

PhD admission at MNIT is the institute's own process, held in both semesters. The admissions page says notices appear in the second half of April or May and the second half of November.

The selection has a written test and an interview. Part A tests research aptitude and Part B subject knowledge, and you need 35% in each part separately and 50% in all to reach the interview. Candidates who have cleared GATE, UGC-NET or CSIR-NET are exempt from the written test but must still face the interview if shortlisted. For a full-time seat with Institute Assistantship, the GATE score must be from the past three years, or your Master's must have been completed on a valid GATE score.

The minimum qualification for a CSE PhD is a B.E./B.Tech. or M.E./M.Tech./M.S. in CSE, IT, ECE, EE or equivalent. For Artificial Intelligence and Data Engineering it is a Master's in engineering or technology in AI, data science or a relevant discipline. Entry straight after a Bachelor's needs 75% and a valid GATE score and, per the brochure, is open only to graduates of CFTIs or institutes ranked up to 100 in NIRF.

In the 2026-27 odd-semester cycle, the written test and interviews were on 25 and 26 May 2026, results came on 5 June 2026, and new scholars reported on 24 July 2026. MNIT's own GATE-funded M.Tech students can also move into the MPDD dual degree (M.Tech plus PhD) with a CGPA of at least 8.0 after two semesters, through an interview with no written test.

Contacts and preparing for an MNIT seat

For PG and PhD admission queries the brochure lists admissions@mnit.ac.in, 0141-2715046 for PG and 0141-2715038 for PhD (3 PM to 5 PM, Monday to Friday). The CSE department's PG committee is at dpgc.cse@mnit.ac.in and the AI & Data Engineering department's at dpgc.aide@mnit.ac.in. CCMT registration itself happens on the CCMT portal, not on MNIT's site.

Since the CCMT merit list is ranked purely on GATE score, your preparation is the lever you control. Start with our GATE DA preparation guide or GATE CSE preparation guide, work through previous year questions, and time yourself in practice. The GATE 2027 overview has dates and paper details.

Frequently asked questions

Can I get into MNIT Jaipur's M.Tech with a GATE DA score?

Yes, going by CCMT's 2026 seat mapping. It listed GATE DA against a B.E./B.Tech. in any discipline for both Computer Science & Engineering and Computer Science & Information Security. Check the mapping again for the 2027 cycle before you fill choices.

Does MNIT Jaipur run its own application for GATE-based M.Tech seats?

No. The 2026-27 brochure says full-time M.Tech with assistantship is filled through CCMT. MNIT's own PG portal is for the self-financed and sponsored categories.

What GATE score did MNIT Jaipur's M.Tech CSE close at in 2026?

CCMT printed an OPEN minimum of 670 in Round 1 for Computer Science & Engineering. In the National Spot Round, CSE showed only an EWS row, at 597. These are scores out of 1000, not marks.

Can I join MNIT's M.Tech without GATE?

Only in the Self-Financed category or as a sponsored candidate. Both are selected on an institute written test, and self-financed students receive no assistantship. The 2026-27 brochure gave ten self-financed seats per programme.

Is GATE required for a PhD at MNIT Jaipur?

Not for every category. Without GATE or NET you sit the institute's written test before the interview. GATE or NET is mandatory for a full-time seat with Institute Assistantship in engineering.

When does MNIT Jaipur advertise PhD admissions?

Twice a year. The admissions page says notices appear in the second half of April or May and the second half of November.

In which part of Jaipur is the MNIT campus?

On J.L.N. Marg in the south of Jaipur, about 10 km from Jaipur Railway Station and 5 km from the airport, according to the institute's 2026-27 brochure.
