GATE 2027 in Warangal: IIT Madras Zone, Exam Cities and Institutes

On the official exam-city page, "Warangal" appears once, under Telangana, in the zone coordinated by IIT Madras. IIT Madras is also the organising institute for GATE 2027, so for us the zone office and the main GATE office are the same place.

Warangal and Hanumakonda run as separate districts, each with its own district administration, but the GATE list has no Hanumakonda or Kazipet entry. If you live on either side, the name to select is Warangal. GATE then allots a centre, and the admit card gives the address.

The list is tentative. GATE says it may add or remove a city and may allot a city outside your six if it has to. GATE 2027 is held only in India.

Seven Telangana cities are in our zone: Adilabad, Karimnagar, Khammam, Kodad, Kothagudem, Nizamabad and Warangal. That is one more than you need. By contrast, a student in Hyderabad has only Nalgonda as a same-zone neighbour; we have six.

A workable order for someone writing from Warangal:

2. Karimnagar
3. Khammam
4. Kothagudem
5. Kodad
6. Nizamabad or Adilabad

Shuffle the back-ups by where you have a relative's house or a friend's room for the night before. A back-up is only worth listing if you could actually reach it on a February morning.

If you would rather add Andhra Pradesh, the IIT Madras-zone cities in that state are Amaravati, Chirala-Bapatla, Chittoor, Guntur, Kadapa, Nandyala, Nellore, Ongole and Tirupati.

This is the rule most worth reading twice. Hyderabad and Nalgonda are IISc-zone cities, and all six choices must be from one zone. So a list of Warangal, Karimnagar, Hyderabad is invalid, however sensible it looks on a map of Telangana.

The real question is where you will be in February, not where your home is. If you will be at home in Warangal or in college here, the all-Telangana list above is the obvious one. If you will be in a Hyderabad job, internship or PG, switch the whole form to the IISc zone: Hyderabad, Nalgonda, then IISc-zone cities such as Kurnool, Anantapur, Bidar or Kalaburagi. The official dates page lists the application data correction window as TBA. Treat your current city order as final until that window opens.

GATE 2027 is held over three weekends: 6 and 7 February, 13 and 14 February, and 20 and 21 February 2027. The city allotment notification is scheduled for 4 January 2027. The admit card date is still TBA; when it comes, it names your centre and reporting time.

Some plain advice for those weeks:

• On the day the admit card is out, locate the centre and plan the route from where you will sleep the night before. Do not assume a Warangal centre is near your house.
• If you are allotted Kothagudem, Kodad, Adilabad or any other back-up, go the day before.
• If you are writing two papers, the official two-paper page notes that the second paper's centre may be different, though in the same city. Check both.

Carry the printed admit card and the original photo ID that you entered in the application, plus anything else the admit card lists. The admit card's own instructions decide what you may take into the hall.

Your exam city has nothing to do with admission. Writing GATE in Warangal does not help with NIT Warangal, and switching to Hyderabad does not help with IIT Hyderabad. Pick the city for the exam morning and the institutes for their programmes.

GATEiit runs online only. It has no centre or office in Warangal or anywhere else, and the material is free to use from home, a hostel or a rented room.

Start with the paper. GATE DA covers Data Science and Artificial Intelligence; GATE CSE covers Computer Science and Information Technology. Both pages give the syllabus. DA and CS form an allowed two-paper pair in GATE 2027 if you want to attempt both.

After that:

• Go through previous papers on /pyq and topic-wise sets on /practice.
• Read the GATE DA 2027 preparation guide or the GATE CSE 2027 preparation guide, and the other guides.
• Join the WhatsApp group linked from the DA or CSE paper page to talk through questions with other aspirants.
