Who we are

GATEiit (gateiit.in) is an independent GATE preparation website. For any privacy question or request, contact us at gate@gateiit.in.

What we collect today

You can read the site without an account. We do not use advertising or analytics cookies. Like any website, our hosting provider automatically processes basic technical data (such as IP address, browser type and the pages requested) to deliver pages and protect the site from abuse.

We use Vercel Web Analytics to count page views and understand which pages are useful. It does not use cookies and does not build a profile of you. It records anonymous, aggregated data such as the page visited, the referring website, and your country, browser and device type. We also use Vercel Speed Insights, which measures how fast pages load for visitors (for example, loading and layout timings) without cookies or personal identifiers.

If you email us, we receive your email address and whatever you choose to write.

When accounts launch

When you create an account, we will collect:

Account details: your name and email address, and your profile photo if you sign in with Google. Your email is verified when you sign up.
Password: if you sign up with email, your password is stored only in securely hashed form. We never see it.
Mobile number (optional): if you choose to give it. We will not contact you on it without your separate consent.
Study preferences: the papers you are preparing for and your target year.
Learning activity: your answers, test attempts, scores, time spent and bookmarks, used to show your progress and analytics.

How we use your data

To run your account and show your progress.
To send essential emails, such as your sign-up verification code.
To fix errors and improve the site.
To send updates or offers only if you have opted in. You can opt out at any time.

We do not sell or rent your personal data to anyone.

Service providers

We use trusted providers to run the site:

Vercel, to host the website, count page views (Web Analytics) and measure page speed (Speed Insights).
Supabase, to store account and learning data (once accounts launch).
Google, if you choose to sign in with Google.
An email delivery provider, to send verification codes and emails.

These providers process data on our behalf and may store it on servers outside India.

Your rights

Under India's Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023, you can ask us to access, correct or delete your personal data, and you can withdraw consent you have given. Email gate@gateiit.in and we will respond as required by law. Once accounts launch, you will also be able to delete your account from your account settings.

How long we keep data

We keep account data while your account is active. If you delete your account, we delete your personal data, except where we must keep some of it to meet a legal obligation.

Children

GATE is taken by undergraduate students and graduates, and this site is meant for them. If you are under 18, please use the site with the consent of a parent or guardian.

Changes to this policy

We will update this page when our practices change and show the date of the latest update at the top.
