GATE 2027 in Jaipur: IIT Delhi Zone, Rajasthan Exam Cities and Institutes

On the official exam-city page, Jaipur appears once, under Rajasthan, in the zone coordinated by IIT Delhi. The list has one Jaipur entry and no split by area. Whichever part of the city you live in, you select Jaipur, and GATE allots the actual centre. You find out the address only when the admit card comes out.

Our zone office is in Delhi, but that changes nothing about where you write. It only means exam-city questions go to IIT Delhi rather than to the organising institute, IIT Madras.

The list is tentative. GATE says it may add or remove a city, and may allot a city outside your six choices if it has to. GATE 2027 is held only in India.

Rajasthan is simpler than most states. The list has eight cities here, and every one of them is in the IIT Delhi zone:

Ajmer, Bikaner, Hanumangarh, Jaipur, Jodhpur, Kota, Sikar, Udaipur.

No Rajasthan city sits in a different zone, so you cannot break the same-zone rule by mixing two Rajasthan cities. That is not true for students in Uttar Pradesh or Haryana, where neighbouring cities fall in different zones.

Some Rajasthan towns have no exam city at all. Alwar and Bharatpur, for example, are not on the list. If you live there, you still choose from the IIT Delhi zone: Jaipur, or the NCR cities in the same zone, which are New Delhi, Gurugram, Faridabad and Greater NOIDA, or Mathura.

Put Jaipur first, then the back-ups you could really reach on an exam morning, or where you have family or a friend to stay with the night before. One workable list:

1. Jaipur
2. Ajmer
3. Sikar
4. Kota
5. Jodhpur or Udaipur
6. New Delhi or Gurugram, if you might be in NCR in February

If you will be doing an internship or job in Delhi NCR when the exam comes round, flip the order and put the NCR cities first. They are in our zone, so the list stays valid either way.

The rest of the zone is a long way from home for most of us, but for completeness it also includes Bikaner, Hanumangarh, Indore, Ujjain, Mathura, Jammu - Samba, Srinagar and Leh.

GATE registration has closed, so if you have registered, your six are already on the form. The official dates page lists the application data correction window (on candidate request, with a fee) as TBA.

The trap for a Jaipur student is the border. Several cities just outside Rajasthan are in other zones, and none of them can go on a form that starts with Jaipur:

Two pairs catch people out. Mathura is in our zone, but Agra is not. Indore and Ujjain are in our zone, but Gwalior and Bhopal are not. In NCR, Greater NOIDA is ours while NOIDA belongs to IIT Roorkee. The Delhi NCR page goes through that split in detail.

GATE 2027 is on 6 and 7 February, 13 and 14 February, and 20 and 21 February 2027. The city allotment notification is due on 4 January 2027, and results are due on 19 March 2027. The admit card date is TBA.

When the admit card arrives, look up the centre and plan the route from wherever you will spend the night before. If you are allotted a back-up city such as Kota or Jodhpur, travel the previous day rather than on the morning. If you are writing two papers, the official two-paper page says the second centre may differ, though in the same city, so check both. Carry the printed admit card and the original photo ID you gave in the application, and follow the admit card's own list of what is allowed in the hall.

Where you sit the exam has nothing to do with where you are admitted. Writing GATE in Jodhpur does not help with IIT Jodhpur, and writing in Jaipur does not count against you anywhere. Choose the city for the exam and the institutes for their programmes.

GATEiit is an online site. It has no centre or office in Jaipur or anywhere else, and everything on it is free to use from home or a hostel.

Begin with the paper you are writing. GATE DA covers Data Science and Artificial Intelligence, and GATE CSE covers Computer Science and Information Technology. Each page carries the syllabus. DA and CS are an allowed two-paper pair in GATE 2027.

From there, solve previous papers on /pyq and topic-wise sets on /practice, and follow the GATE DA 2027 preparation guide or the GATE CSE 2027 preparation guide. The other guides cover specific topics. The WhatsApp group linked from the DA or CSE paper page is the place to discuss questions with other aspirants.
